About our Speaker:
David R. Okrent, Esq., CPA is a highly respected authority in Elder Law, Tax, Estate Planning, Administration, Special Needs Planning, and Asset Protection, with over 39 years of experience in both the legal and accounting fields. He has received numerous prestigious honors, including the “Man of Spirit” Award from the L.I. Coalition for the Aging, the “Angel of Spirit” Award from the L.I. Alzheimer Foundation, and the “Leadership in Law” award from L.I. Business News. In 2023, he was recognized as one of L.I.’s Top 40 Attorneys by the L.I. Herald.
Mr. Okrent is a frequent lecturer and author, having appeared on TV programs and co-hosted a radio program focused on Elder Law. He is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, serving as a member of the Coordinating Council for Services Related to Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementia, appointed by Governor Hochul in 2024. He is also a board member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and serves on various committees, including the NYS Bar Association’s Elder Law Section.
His extensive background includes judicial internships, service as a former IRS Revenue Agent, and work as an accountant with KPMG/Peat Marwick. Mr. Okrent graduated Cum Laude from St. John’s University School of Law with his JD, and earned his BS in Accounting, Cum Laude, from LIU, C.W. Post.
